All snacks

I got really busy this morning, too busy to stop for a formal lunch (you know, because I usually break out the white linens), so I’ve had to snack my way through the day to stay alive.  I kind of enjoyed it, I might take this approach more often.  It really lends itself to someone who likes to be eating at all times.

I started with this cantaloupe that I cut up this morning before breakfast:

This is that massive cantaloupe that my dad gave me.  I haven’t even started to make a dent, but I’m getting there.  Trying to pace myself.

Then I had this Kashi bar:

I thought I liked these, but I think I’ve changed my mind.  This is the Chocolate Peanut flavor, and it had that weird metallic artifical taste I don’t like.

Then, a couple spoonfuls of peanut butter and an apple:

It was a lot of peanut butter.  I finished the jar.  However, I think a good portion of it must have gotten on the camera when I took this picture, because I just looked over and Jack was licking its screen quite furiously.  I am glad someone likes that camera.

I am dumber than I thought

So yesterday, after my post about the cold-pressed iced coffee, someone commented that I didn’t need coffee filters – I could just use my French press.

Duh.

So I did that for today:

It worked out fine.  The coffee tasted the same, but my paper towels didn’t soak up the majority of it, which is a major plus.

We are going away this weekend, and I had to pick up our rental car after the gym because I do all the work around here.  I knew it would take a long time because Enterprise is slow as hell, as is my driving, so I ate this Kashi bar on my way there:

Being in a car always makes me feel so free.  I mean, you can go anywhere, and you don’t have to worry about where the closest subway stop is, or whether you’re going to have to walk 42 blocks and develop near-fatal blisters, or if your arm is going to fall off from the six bags you have to carry.   It’s really crazy!  It also always makes me want to go through drive-thrus, just because I can, so I’m glad I had a snack.

And…I got the last parking space on my block, directly in front of my apartment!  I have mixed feelings about this.  I am sure it’s too good to be true and I’m going to get towed at some point today, so I keep looking out the window every five seconds.  So far, so good.

I found my calling

This morning, I was on the elliptical because I stupidly did some exercise from this month’s Self called the Magic Multitasker and nearly multitasked myself into a full-body cast.  My legs, back and shoulders are very mad at me today.

So, I was pedaling along, as slowly as possible, reading a Shape magazine, when I saw a little blurb about how if you work for the company that makes Clif bars, you get access to a full gym, personal trainers, and thirty-some classes for free.  You also get $500 to buy a bike if you agree to ride it to work. I am guessing that you probably also get free Clif and Z Bars (!!!).

I am thinking that I should be working for them.  I mean, this is a no-brainer, right?  I’m sure they need someone to eat bars write things.

I already started practicing:

I can’t stop eating

I am starving today.  I don’t know what’s wrong with me.  I didn’t really have dinner last night, I think that’s the problem.  I split a couple pieces of cheese and a salad with Chris at the wine bar, and then went to meet another friend for dinner, but I wasn’t very hungry at that point so I just ordered another salad, which I ended up not eating because it tasted like a garlic clove.  I like garlic, but I don’t want to bite into a bulb, thanks. By the time I got home, I just wanted to go to bed.

So, anyway, this is slightly embarrassing.  Here we go.

A Kashi bar I grabbed on the way to the gym this morning:

Pineapple:

Not all of it, but I ate it out of the container.

A mini muffin:

And a few pretzels:

At least I didn’t eat a cookie.  Yet.

New bar

I got this in the mail today from someone at work, so I ate it for a snack:

imgp1373.jpg

It was pretty good, although a little sticky sweet in a weird kind of way.  I’m guessing a LOT of honey was involved in the making of this bar, but the label offered no ingredient or nutrition information.  I am assuming it was healthy because it tasted like it was, plus no trans fat is always a good sign.

Also in the package was this chocolate bar:

I did not eat this.  Yet.  Its days are numbered.

I did have a few figs though:

More than this.  Maybe six?  They always disappear so fast, I can’t keep track.
