Sorry, Chris!

However, you’ll note that this is not a complete chip.  It is a mere fragment.  Everyone knows that chip, cookie, and cracker fragments do not count as food, nor do they have calories.  It’s totally some kind of weird rule of science or something, and it is one of the reasons why, whenever I reach into a bag of chips, I always – always – go for the broken pieces.

The other reason is that Chris is less apt to notice that I’ve been swiping his snacks if I stick to the crumbly bits.

I also had to eat all of these strawberries because they were dangerously close to going bad:

I saved them.  I’m nice like that.

I am tired of titles

I have been working on this two pounder of strawberries for most of the day:

I could eat this whole thing, easy, but I am trying to use self-control because I’m not sure my stomach would enjoy two pounds of strawberries as much as my mouth would.  I probably had eight or nine though.  Maybe 15.  Who really knows?

And then a few minutes ago I had a Z Bar:

I am kind of full now, but it’s okay. I know that I will be hungry for dinner because my neighborhood smells like glazed donuts at 5:30pm and that is precisely the time that I walk Jack every afternoon.  Nothing strokes your appetite like a whiff of Krispy Kreme.

I am including lunch today as an extra special bonus.  Get excited.

It’s a salad.  But not just any salad.  No.  This is a pear and goat cheese salad.  The pear was a little iffy – borderline rotten, I’ll admit – but this still tasted good because goat cheese tastes good and I would eat it on pretty much anything.  Today I chose to eat it on romaine lettuce and walnuts.  I also had some strawberries:

Surprising, I know.  But don’t forget about the goat cheese and pear salad, which is new and different.

Then this afternoon I had some yogurt:

There is jam in it.  Some more jam actually went right from the jar into my mouth:

This stuff is disappearing so fast, it scares me.  I think I might have to write to the company because I am 99% sure that there absolutely are not 18 servings in this little jar.  Six, tops.

When we went grocery shopping last night, I bought my favorite kind of strawberry jam:

This stuff is so good.  It’s kind of a problem.  I keep sticking a spoon into it, and sometimes my finger, and okay, maybe my tongue.

Just once though.  I swear.

I usually don’t buy it because I try to stick to the pure fruit varieties and this kind has some sugar, but last night I thought I deserved a treat because, you know, I nearly starved all day.

So this afternoon I mixed some into my yogurt:

Just like a tablespoon or four.

I’ve also been eating these all day:

So you would think I’d be a little strawberried out, but no.  Not happening.

Bubbly

I have decided that I am going to be one of those people who drinks seltzer.  Because let’s face it, there are two kinds of people in this world, people who drink seltzer and people who drink plain old tap water.  I’m crossing over.  I’m going to start saying things like, “Sparkling, please” in restaurants and then ducking Chris’s glare when the bill comes and my water alone cost us $9.

No.  I’m not.  Seltzer comes in bottles and bottles are bad for the environment.  Our recycling cans are always overflowing by the time trash day rolls around as it is.  Also, I enjoy a good glass of tap water.

But, we had this bottle of black cherry seltzer in the fridge and I decided to drink it this afternoon:

Normally I mix it with vodka, which is why we had it, but not on a Tuesday afternoon.  Thursday, maybe.

I also consumed what may have been a pound of strawberries:

I buy fruit in large quantities, ration it for fear of running out, and then have to scarf it down in one sitting before it goes bad.  Unfortunately, fruit isn’t that filling to me, so about an hour after I ate this I was hungry again:

Plain yogurt with walnuts and peanut butter/chocolate chips.  Yeah.  Never should have bought those.

I had a somewhat traumatic lunch today.  I really, really, really wanted a smoothie, but someone forgot to fill the ice cube tray after she made herself an iced coffee yesterday.

Okay.  It was me.  I hate myself.

So, with one ice cube and a fridge full of complete nonsense, I decided to have my snack first and a smoothie this afternoon after the ice cubes set up.  I poured myself a very small bowl of cereal with some strawberries:

I know.  It doesn’t look like there is any cereal in there.  But there is, I promise.  See:

Right there.  That’s a whole grain flake.  And if you look really closely, you’ll find a raisin, too.

Anyway, the problem with this plan is – and I believe I’ve discussed this before – that I can’t stop at just one bowl of cereal, much less just one very small bowl of cereal.  I always have a lot of milk left, because I don’t like milk, so I have to go back and add some more cereal so as not to waste the milk.  Wasting the milk would be just wrong.

Needless to say, I went back and refilled my little bowl twice, which equals a normal bowl of cereal and thus, a lunch.  No smoothie for me.

Chocolate covered strawberries

Well, kind of.  Snacks this afternoon where a chocolate chip z bar:

And about six strawberries:

Okay, so not really chocolate covered strawberries.  But I kind of alternated bites, because I’m clever like that, and it tasted pretty damn good.

And much healthier than the Snickers bar that I almost bought on the way home from work.
