Beautiful day

The city is a complete mess right now.  It’s been pouring all day, and it’s supposed to continue through Sunday.  I’ve already witnessed a few casualties, like mangled umbrellas on the sidewalks and a leaky gym roof that caused a constant stream of water next to my treadmill and a woman on the bus who had a plastic Super Associated bag tied on her head.

Which, actually, was really smart, because I was not looking cute when I went into work this morning.  It was a ponytail day for sure.  It’s rather windy out there, too, so it looked a lot like this.

Anyway, I got home later than usual and I haven’t been doing much organized snacking.  I had some peanut butter out of the jar:

And some grapes:

I actually stuck these in the freezer to chill them a little and forgot about them for about an hour, so I accidentally had frozen grapes.  I have heard people say that frozen grapes taste like ice cream, and I’m here to tell you that those people are delusional.  But they were okay.

And…now it’s the weekend!  Almost.

All snacks

I got really busy this morning, too busy to stop for a formal lunch (you know, because I usually break out the white linens), so I’ve had to snack my way through the day to stay alive.  I kind of enjoyed it, I might take this approach more often.  It really lends itself to someone who likes to be eating at all times.

I started with this cantaloupe that I cut up this morning before breakfast:

This is that massive cantaloupe that my dad gave me.  I haven’t even started to make a dent, but I’m getting there.  Trying to pace myself.

Then I had this Kashi bar:

I thought I liked these, but I think I’ve changed my mind.  This is the Chocolate Peanut flavor, and it had that weird metallic artifical taste I don’t like.

Then, a couple spoonfuls of peanut butter and an apple:

It was a lot of peanut butter.  I finished the jar.  However, I think a good portion of it must have gotten on the camera when I took this picture, because I just looked over and Jack was licking its screen quite furiously.  I am glad someone likes that camera.

Today is a good day

I am having mad peanut butter cravings today.  I got up to get some more water and the next thing I knew, I had the jar out and a spoon in my hand.  I figured I should at least get myself together and use a bowl, so:

I mixed it with some raisins.  And some chocolate chips.

Okay, more chocolate chips than raisins.

Anyway, aside from peanut butter, I’m also very excited about this.

Can you believe that?!  I had no idea that was possible.  I’m so excited to try it.  Tomorrow I have to go into work so I will be able to go to Starbucks, but it is definitely in the works for Friday.

Tonight I didn’t really feel like cooking anything so Chris made his special red sauce:

With equally special whole wheat penne:

I know, he’s quite the chef.  You should see him whip up a veggie burger.  It’s outstanding.

After, I had some chocolate chips:

Apparently I didn’t get enough this afternoon, when I made my new favorite snack again:

Okay, gotta go.  Seinfeld is calling my name.  That poor hen.

On the way to yoga this morning, I grabbed one of these fruit leather things I bought at Trader Joe’s over the weekend:

I may or may not have fifteen new cavities because of this. It was insanely sweet, but I ate it anyway.  It’s a good thing, too, because the woman next to me started snoring during relaxation pose at the end of class, and without the extra energy from this bar, I might have suffered the same fate.

This afternoon, I made this dessert out of banana, chunky peanut butter, and chocolate chips, and told myself it was a snack:

And that, my friends, marks the end of this blog.  This was so good that I’m going to have to eat it every day from now on, and that just wouldn’t be interesting for you.  I’m sorry.

Throw back

I brought out an old favorite this afternoon:

I haven’t had an apple and peanut butter in ages.  Sometimes Chris makes it and I take a few unauthorized bites, but that doesn’t count.  I forgot how good it is.

As promised…

There were more, but I forgot to take a picture at the start because I was on the phone while I was eating them.  People love hearing the crunch of a cucumber on the other end of the line.  Seriously.

I have also eaten approximately five tablespoons of peanut butter today.  A couple on an English muffin for breakfast, a couple in a smoothie for lunch, and at least one like so:

Gotta get the protein in.  I did a lot of squats this morning and my muscles are just screaming for Smuckers Creamy Natural.

Also, before I forget, last night Chris brought out the cheese and crackers:

Excuse the huge mess that is our life.  I had three cheese/cracker combos.

Have a good weekend!
