So for the past three or four days, this has been in our freezer:
It’s Chris’s shoe, gently resting on some frozen corn. It is in there because he stepped in gum. But not just any gum – the biggest piece of gum I’ve ever seen:
It looks like some kind of spearmint, but the size tells me it must be Bubblicious. I have no idea how he managed to spread it all over the side like that, but I would venture to say that it involved a couple of beers and maybe a shot of Petron. Or two.
Anyway, I told him to put it in the freezer because that’s what you’re supposed to do when you have a gum situation. Or so I thought, but it didn’t work. I finally pulled it out last night because I was sick of it standing between me and my ice cream.
So what now? How do you get gum off your shoes? I told him to spread peanut butter on it, but he didn’t like that idea.
And now that I’ve thoroughly analyzed someone’s discarded gum, we can turn to food. Last night I got hungry for some random reason so I had some yogurt, a little cereal, and raisins:

Hahahaha! I love the photo of the shoe in the freezer! I’ve heard peanut butter might do the trick– but it could also make a bigger mess.
Someone help my shoes!!!
Throw the shoes away and get new ones.
Ew, a sticky situation indeed. I hate it when gum gets stuck to my shoe, but I don’t think I have ever had a situation this bad though. I wish I had some good advice.. alas I do not! I do wish you, I mean Chris luck getting it off.
Maybe try Goo Gone? That stuff works wonders on stickers, labels, other sticky things…
Ewww! There’s hair on the shoe!!!
haha, gross!! I don’t know if you read my blog, but I stepped in gum yesterday! I didn’t put my shoe in the freezer, though, but I was thinking about it. I used Avon skin so soft bath oil. Works like a charm! Good luck!
hahah that post cracked me up! i have no idea how to get gum off a shoe. someone put gum on my car door the other day (ok, i had thrown it out my window while driving and it stuck to the side, but whatever) and i just waited until it melted. so… maybe put the shoe in the sun?
Warm vinegar is what I’ve heard takes gum out of fabric. I sat in some gum on an airplane a month ago and have been meaning to try the trick on my jeans, but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’ve heard nothing but success stories about it on the internet, so you should google it
I have no idea how to get gum off shoes, but I do know that when my little brother put gum in my hair my mom tried to use peanut butter to get it out and we ended up having to hack my hair off. So I’m with Crissy, time to buy new shoes!
Thanks for all of the suggestions!! He used Goo Gone and it worked.
