…except it took me about 45 minutes to make. I’m slow. I also get flustered easily and tend to lose potholders and then find them ten minutes later on the bed or in the oven.
But the point here is chickpea cutlets with baked french fries:
I didn’t eat the bun, which was really a whole wheat English muffin, but I did have another half of a cutlet. I made the fries based on a recipe I found in this lovely magazine, which turned out to be not so random after all. Apparently my brother got it for me for my birthday.
I am a bad sister.
Anyway. They had olive oil, salt, paprika, garlic powder, parsley and parmesan cheese, which is the secret ingredient I think. It made them all crispy and brown and just all around tasty. I bet it would be good with sweet potatoes, too, but we have about 42 pounds of these white guys so you will be seeing them again in many different shapes and sizes.
This meal was so classy, I just had to have a glass of wine:

I like Cuisine At Home magazine as well :0)
french fries and wine
perfection
Kind of like fast food, but way better. The fries look really good. And, wine makes anything classy.
I made chickpea cutlets yesterday, too. Except I ran out of chickpeas and had to use pinto beans instead and used way too much garlic which gave me a stomachache. So I guess I had the intention of making chickpea cutlets but instead made crappy pinto patties. Potato, potatoh, it’s all the same.
Also, creepily, yesterday when I ate about a bushel of blueberries I justified my fruit gluttony by this blog. “I read blogs where it’s perfectly acceptable to eat mass quantities of fruit.” Creepy, no? I won’t deny it.
Ohhh, your fries look good. I can never get mine crispy…can you post the recipe? :>
Oh, those fries look so good! Yum yum!
wayyy better than fast food
btw I think you’re really funny and I like your blog), so I’ve linked you: iameatingtolive.wordpress.com
Wow. As if those fries don’t look amazinggggg. Nice work Arielle. A job well done!
What chickpea cutlet recipe do you use?
I have been wanting to make those. I saw a recipe for them in Veganomicon, the same cookbook I got the yummy cookie recipe from.
I just have to go get vital wheat gluten, whatever the eff that is and I’m golden.
haha, thats funny. i made a turkey burger with over baked french fries last night and said the same thing to the boy about it being fast food.
but instead of crack about it not being very fast, he said “but it doesnt taste as good.”
isnt he precious?

Really? I’m surprised, because there aren’t a lot of vegetarian recipes in it, let alone vegan.

I couldn’t agree more.

Wine does make everything classy.

I don’t want to enable your fruit eating, but I think it’s perfectly fine to eat berries by the pound.

I will post it tomorrow under the recipes section. If I forget, remind me.

Fries cannot be bad, let’s be honest.

You should make them. That stuff is weird, it makes everything stringy and it’s fun to play with.

He is so precious. Chris would say the same thing.
