The spinning class I went to this morning was extra hard. Or I was extra wimpy. Or something. All I know is that the ridiculous amount of sweat that was dripping into my eyes screwed my contacts up and I couldn’t see and I almost had to leave early because I thought I might die.
It is because of this, I believe, that I have been so hungry today. When I got home from class, I grabbed this Z Bar before running out the door with Jack:
See how it’s blurry? Of course you do. I was in mid grab and I stopped to snap the photo. Also, my camera just really sucks.
And then I came home and had my normal breakfast of eggs/toast/Morningstar sausages, but I somehow ended up starving at 10:15 so to avoid a second near-death experience, I ate another Z Bar. You know. For variety.
I didn’t take a picture of the second one. Sorry. It looked quite a bit like the first.
Then I doubled up on the peanut butter and protein powder I put in the smoothie I had for lunch, so I’ve been relatively content this afternoon. In fact, I wasn’t even hungry for a snack but I thought I should eat something anyway, so I had these grapes:
Which I think actually made me more hungry. Fruit does that to me sometimes if I eat it by itself. Does that happen with anyone else?

Mmm, grapes :0) Grapes do have a higher sugar content/less fiber than most fruits, so maybe that could have led to the excess hunger?
That definitely happens to me. Maybe it’s the sugars in the fruit? I’m not sure.
This is all I could find – but I could guess that much: http://www.everydayhealth.com/publicsite/index.aspx?puid=d2aff19c-030c-4015-8c16-3e66184d4d7c&p=1
fruit makes me hungry too. fruit are (is?) simple carbs so they enter the blood stream fast, like processed sugars and breads, and leave you craving more. except they have tons of fiber and vitamins, so, no, you cant eat cookies instead of fruit.
also, i would like to see more pictures of you dog, please. his floppy ears make me laugh.

I hear you on the sweat-in-the-eyes. It sucks. When I’m out running, everything’s ace, but as soon as I stop, it’s like drip-sting-death.
I find it helps to complain very loudly about how my eyebrows should really do their jobs better. I mean, it doesn’t improve the situation any, but it helps my own mental well-being.
I skipped lunch today and I am totally regretting visiting this blog…
all the food…
the delicious food…
on every post….
I have to go now.
Yep, fruits definitely do that to me too. Especially apples.
it definitely does that to me too… especially bananas and apples… well ok, pretty much ALL fruits! i always have to have a whole grain with it…
Me too! I used to eat an apple for an afternoon snack and I was always even hungrier afterwards.
I also had the sweat in the eyes/messed up contacts problem at spinning this morning. Alex’s comment makes me wonder – if I didn’t wax my eyebrows would I not have this problem anymore? Oh, the sacrifices of beauty…
I agree with everyone else – fruit makes me crave something else to eat. Sometimes other foods do it as well, probably the sugar thing as others have speculated. Also…. the sweat in the eyes hurts but sometimes my sweat also stings my face as well. Of course I searched online to figure out what causes this… and apparently its the amount of water you drink. If you’re well hydrated your sweat has less salt and doesn’t sting. It does make perfect sense.
Apples always make me more hungry. I hate that.
Apples always make me more hungry! Generally fruit on it’s own makes me more hungry unless I eat 13 pounds of it, then I just feel sick. Sadly, this happens often.
VG –
Yeah, it happens with grapes, and apples, but not other fruits I don’t think. Strange.
Jenn –
Thanks for the link! I guess that is what it is.
Kelly –
Dang. And of course, I’m happy to post more pictures of the pup. I only take like 15 a day.
Alex –
I’m about the bring back the sweatband. For real.
Matt –
I am stuck on the skipping lunch. I could never do that. I don’t understand boys.
Kristie –
Yeah, apples are really bad.
Lindz –
I don’t have a problem with bananas. Although I hardly ever eat them by themselves, so maybe I do…
Bridget –
I honestly never thought about the eyebrows thing, but I think I’ll just have to deal, because not plucking would be an ugly sight.
EBF –
Yeah…I drink a lot of water, like an obscene amount, so my sweat doesn’t sting, but it’s still annoying. But that makes sense about the salt.
Kristen –
That’s what peanut butter is for!
Run –
It happens often to me too. We’d be in trouble if we went to like an orchard together.
Sorry. That was dumb.
ME TOO!! Apples are the worst. Just thinking about them makes me hungrier. Mmm.. cookies..
well, lunch is my least favorite meal of the day…so if I need to skip one, it will always be lunch!
