The food processor owed me one after last night, and the pesto turned out great. Not that pesto is hard or anything, but whatever. Let’s not forget that I’m an amateur processor.
I remembered that Rachael Ray has a recipe for pesto where she replaces some of the olive oil with chicken stock, but for the life of me, I couldn’t find it online. I didn’t look very hard. I made up my own, and put it with some Trader Joe’s cheese tortellini and sun-dried tomatoes. Which would have been good in the pesto. I didn’t think of that until right now. Damn.
I just had a little, because I am a loving and generous girlfriend and Chris can eat a package of tortellini on his own, so I didn’t want him to starve to death because I took half. But I didn’t even finish this, because I made this salad to go with it:
Sorry about the Tupperware, but did I mention we don’t have a dishwasher?

Hooray for fresh, delectable pesto sauce!! So glad that the Cuisinart cooperated this time :0)
YUM!! I wish I could find vegan tortellini! And with pesto?? Perfect combo. =) Who needs recipes? Pestos are the best thing to improvise. Tee hee. I thought I was a genius as a kid when I’d add random things to it, only realizing that most people added whatever they wanted anyway.
I’ve got the same problem with the boy eating almost all the tortellini! They never put enough in those bags! I guess its for the best. The weather here today was just as spazzy, whats with that??
once you reach the level of professional processor, go back to Mesa Grill and see if Bobby Flay finally will get you your own show.
that pesto looks amazingggggg. so does the salad.
not but really… that pesto looks amazingggggg.
and i don’t have a dishwasher either. it can be a pita. you know a “pain …in…the… ***”. i wish I made that up myself
That pesto looks phenomenal
You are so good at the whole stop when you are full thing. I never go for seconds and am good at restaurants b/c I don’t control portion sizes there, but if I’ve portioned something out for myself at home I almost always eat the whole freakin’ thing.
We do have a dishwasher and this stuff still happens to me
OMG – I totally know what you mean about the dishwasher. I would cook so much more/not have a dirty kitchen ALL THE TIME if I had a dishwasher. I have dreams about living in an NYC apt with dishwasher….swoon.
Mmm the pesto looks good!! I need to try my food processor out…I got one for Christmas and have yet to use it because I’m scared I will do something to make it awful!
Mmm…i Love pesto. The tortellini looks great!

Me too.

You’d think they’d have it, with tofu filling or something. Weird.

I know. Chris will eat a package of ravioli, too. But at least it gets me to eat a salad. Which he won’t eat.
Betsy -
That is the plan, of course.
Emma -
Ha, you’re funny.
Ben -
Why thank you.
Rebecca –
I am actually not good at that AT ALL, but I try my best. I’m better at home than at restaurants, probably because my cooking isn’t nearly as good!
Cara -
I’m sure it would happen to me too, but in the meantime it’s a good excuse.

I know. Chris washes most of the dishes, so when he’s here, I usually use them with wild abandon.
Jenn –
Use it. It’s totally fun. If you’re dorky, like me.
Lauren –
Me too. It’s the shit.
