Chris is at a meeting tonight, so I made one of my favorite things for dinner that he would hate: toad in a hole! My mom used to make this for me all the time when I was little, and I loved it.
It’s not what you might call photogenic. I actually didn’t make the hole in the bread, because I thought about it, and what’s the point? I mean, why waste the bread, especially when it’s my favorite part? So this is non-traditional. I’m a rule breaker, you could say.
I also had a salad:
This is Trader Joe’s Just the Leaves (the best thing that ever happened to my salad intake), tomatoes, mushrooms, cucumbers, walnuts, honey and balsamic vinegar.

Oh, and I was hungry after a walk with Jack this afternoon, so I had a pear:
Let me tell you, walking this dog is quite a workout. Usually I just take him on two walks and then I just go along with Chris on the third, but today I was manning the leash on all three. He does not know how to walk, so you have to drag him and yank him down the street. Either you’re pulling him to slow down, or you’re yanking him away from the random food object/piece of trash that he’s attempting to eat. Yesterday we had a lengthy fight over a gummy worm in the middle of the sidewalk during the morning rush.
I’ve never heard of / had toad in a hole. What exactly is it?
Do you have a big dog? I take my two small dogs on a walk everyday and they pull me too! It usually just gets frustrating though because their leashes get tanged when they do this. heh. But they need a walk just like me
oh man, why oh why do animals scavenge like that??? It drives me nuts when I do my dog-watching jobs. I have three labs that I watch and they seriously use the entire walk to look for food (even if it’s under snow, they can sniff it out). Yarrgh.. i understand.

Really, people don’t know what toad in a hole is? I’m shocked. You tear a hole in a piece of bread and crack an egg in the hole. Unless you’re me, in which case you don’t make the hole and you use egg whites. Still good though.

He’s a puppy, but he will be bigger. Right now he’s like 35 – 40 pounds probably. It is really frustrating.
